YusufIslam.com announced today that Yusuf is recording two George Harrison songs with Klaus Voorman. The first, as previously announced, is “The Day The World Gets ‘Round,” originally heard on George Harrison’s 1973 album Living in the Material World. Proceeds from that song will be donated to aid children and families in Gaza.
Mysteriously that article vanished a few days after getting posted. Now comes additional news on that song, as well as news that Yusuf is also recording “All Things Must Pass,” which was released by George Harrison on his 1970 triple-album of the same name.
According to Yusuf’s site, the musician credits for both songs are as follows:
Yusuf – vocals, 12-string guitar, acoustic guitar
Klaus Voorman – bass
Luke Potashnick – electric guitar, acoustic guitar
Cassiano De Sa – electric guitar
Nikolaj Torp – piano/keyboards
Kristoffer Soone – drums
Both songs will appear on Klaus Voorman’s debut solo album The Sideman’s Journey, scheduled to be released in late Spring 2009, according to Voorman.com. Proceeds from the album will be donated to Klaus’ Environment & Health Charity Project on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota to aid the Oglala Sioux.
