YusufIslam.com posted about Yusuf’s appearance at a recent fundraising dinner held by the charitable organization Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP), which raised £1 million for medical relief for Gaza.
After a warm introduction by journalist Jon Snow, Yusuf, accompanied by long time guitarist Alun Davies, performed three songs – Ruins, The Day the World Gets ‘Round and Peace Train Blues, leaving the stage to a standing ovation.
Many of Sunday night’s speakers, including comedian Bill Bailey, Mark Steel and ex-BBC journalist Rageh Omaar, condemned the BBC’s refusal to broadcast the DEC (Disasters Emergency Committee) appeal for humanitarian aid.
